Blogs, grrrrrr!!!

I have just been introduced to the blog communtity. My interest was spurred by a recent article in Communication Arts. Well, I did see the pros of this, but not the cons...Until I started asking people to comment on this blog. WOW!!! Such negativity. I was intrigued. With such a popularity, why do so many seem to hate blogs. I did a search on the infamous Google. 158,000,000 was the number of responses.

What is your opinion of Blogs? What would help to make them more acceptable to the masses? As for this blog, what are some design related topics that you would like to see?

And pass this Blog on to friends as well.

Blogs are great means of expression. They are already acceptable to the masses, because they are a tool OF the masses. Complaining about blogs tends to be people who like to nitpick and complain. If you don't like blogs, then don't visit them.

I want to thank Spudart for your comments. I agree. It seems we live in a complain addicted industry. Complaining is not only frowned upon in the bible, but only brings about negativity. I find that when I am placed into a positive setting for brainstorming, the ideas seem to flow. So, when it comes down to it, complaining has no real use in our industry. Critiquing, on the other hand, is very useful, and quite different than complaining. For one, you are pointing out areas in the design that could use some help or should be changed to better the overall design. Secondly, a true designer brings about suggestions with what should be changed. Thus, reempahsizing him or her as a designer. They are a problem solver. They not only note the problem, but bring a couple of creative solutions as well. As for Spurdart, you noted a great area. If someone doesn't like a blog, go somewhere else. My challenge to you is this, what about the questions at hand. What topics would you like to see arise and what would help this blog to flourish?

I like blogs. In fact, I like them so much I’ve started with B L A N K: an online community blog to discuss, stimulate and encourage exploration into the heart and soul of design. B L A N K will plunge headlong into this journey by asking questions, recording thoughts, having conversations and showing works of designers that bring vision and clarity to this movement.

Please take a moment and check out the B L A N K website (http://www.b-l-a-n-k.com). Keep blogging and designing.
